
Saginaw Acquires David Perklin from Ottawa

The Saginaw Spirit announce today they have completed a trade with the Ottawa 67's sending forward John McFarland to the Canadian Capital. In return the Spirit receive forward David Perklin and Ottawa's fourth round pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. Perklin was the 67's first round pick in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection, taken 17th overall. So far this season in 31 games the Mississauga, Ontario native has yet to record a point. Last season with the Toronto Marlboros Midget program Perklin recorded 19 goals and added 26 assists.
McFarland was obtained by the Spirit in a trade with the Sudbury Wolves in December, 2010 and in 73 games with Saginaw the Florida Panthers prospect recorded 39 goals and 30 assists. This season McFarland had 20 goals and 21 assists in 36 games.
