Ogden Raptors News Release
OGDEN, UT - The Ogden Raptors scored three runs on sacrifice flies but left eight runners on base and came up short in their final game against the Rocky Mountain Vibes of the 2019 regular season, 4-3.
After coming back to win the first game of the day - completing a game suspended from the previous Tuesday in Colorado Springs - the Raptors saw Rocky Mountain use three home runs to pull away for the win.
The Vibes hit two solo home runs in the third a day after launching back-to-back shots in the third in the two-game series opener, and a two-run blast in the fifth gave them a 4-1 lead.
Ogden got on the board when they loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth, and Aldrich De Jongh drove in Andy Pages with a fly ball to right. No other runs scored in the frame, however.
Just like in Monday's opener and the first game Tuesday, the Raptors came alive offensively in the final few innings. Unlike those two wins, the clutch hits didn't show up. The hosts put two on with no one out in the fifth but didn't even move either runner up. In the sixth, Jon Littell reached on and error and De Jongh singled to right. A wild pitch moved both up a base, and Wladimir Chalo lifted a sac fly to right to score Littell and move De Jongh to third. Andrew Shaps got into the act with an RBI fly to left to pull the Raptors within one.
Ogden kept the pressure on in the frame with base hits by Eddys Leonard and Ramon Rodriguez, but a fly out ended the frame with the potential tying run, Leonard, on third.
With their season series against the Vibes complete, the Raptors next welcome the Grand Junction Rockies to town for a three-game set starting Wednesday at 6:30 PM.
