Kingston Frontenacs News Release

The Kingston Frontenacs are proud to announce that Ryan Spooner has been named to the 2011 Subway Super Series, a two exhibition match between the best the Ontario Hockey League has to offer against Team Russia, the visiting world junior squad. The games will be played in Ottawa on Thursday, November 10th and in Sault Ste. Marie on Monday, November 14th.

Frontenac centreman and Boston Bruin second round selection Ryan Spooner will represent the Club at both contests.

"The players that have been selected to represent the OHL in the SUBWAY Super Series have been given an incredible opportunity to display their abilities against tough competition where they can show the coaching staff and Hockey Canada that they deserve a spot on Team Canada this winter," said Team OHL Head Coach Scott Walker of the Guelph Storm. "The OHL has a history of success in this event, and I am confident that the players we have assembled for these games will compete hard against the Russians."

"Our team is very proud of Spoons (Ryan Spooner)," said Doug Gilmour, General Manager of the Black and Gold. "Congratulations to him on being selected as just one of five players to be asked to participate in both games," he added.

This will mark the second year in a row that Spooner has represented the OHL. Last year he played in the Sudbury contest on November 15th, 2010.

The Frontenacs take to the ice this weekend with three games on the road in Windsor Thursday, Saginaw Friday and Plymouth Saturday. All games can be heard on 88.7 MyFM with Play-By-Play with Jim Gilchrist. Thursday's game may be seen on COGECO channel 13 or 700.
