
Ryan Kusler Commits to Western Michigan University

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are proud to announce that Forward, Ryan Kusler has committed to play Division One College Hockey at Western Michigan University.
Kusler, 19, of Battle Creek, Michigan was selected by the Lancers 206th overall in the 14th round of the 2022 Phase II USHL Draft after spending a full season as assistant captain for the Odessa Jackalopes of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). While in Odessa, he played in all 60 games in the 2021-22 season registering 20 total points (6G-14A-20P) along with a +9 rating. Kusler's performance aided the Jackalopes to their first winning record since the 2017-18 season, as they sat in the middle of the south division at 29-26-1-4 on the year.
Prior to his time in Odessa, the Michigan native spent the majority of his pre-junior career in the Fox Motors AAA program based out of Byron Center, Michigan. Over his five-year stretch with Fox Motors, Kusler went from 13U to 18U AAA hockey, averaging 0.72 points per game.
Throughout the centerman's first season in the USHL, he has appeared in 32 of 34 regular season games, notching 9 total points (2G-7A-9A) with 28 games remaining in the 2022-23 season.
The Lancers' organization is excited to see Kusler improve throughout his future within the organization and thrive athletically and academically in a Bronco uniform!
