Rutkowski Reassigned to Binghamton

ELMIRA, N.Y. - February 26, 2014 - The Elmira Jackals announced today that rookie defenseman Troy Rutkowski has been reassigned by the Ottawa Senators to the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.

Rutkowski has one goal in eight games with Binghamton.

Rutkowski, 21, has been reassigned to Binghamton for his fifth AHL stint this season. He began the season with the Senators and scored his first professional goal on October 20, 2013 against Bridgeport. In eight AHL games Rutkowski has one goal on six shots. The rookie defenseman has not seen game action with Binghamton since November 30. In 38 games with the Jackals Rutkowski has nine assists. His 72 shots on goal rank second among Jackals defensemen.

Rutkowski signed with Ottawa as a free agent on March 14, 2013. He ranked second among WHL defensemen in assists and points and was third in goals during the 2012-13 season for the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL. The Edmonton, Alberta native was originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
