Cole Russo tagged his third home run of the season, backing Gavin Perry's strong start, as the Crosscutters beat the Scrappers 8-3 to open the four-game set.
Gavin Perry went six plus innings in his first home start of the season, allowing one run on five hits. The Eastern New Mexico product struck out four, while limiting the walks to two. He earns his first win of the season.
Cole Russo launched a 389-foot, three-run home run to right field in the bottom of the third. His team-leading 3rd home run of the season and gave him 14 RBI, which ties Jackson Mayo for the team lead.
Carter Dorighi finished the night a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-5. His triple was just the second of the year for Williamsport and it was his third three-hit game of the season.
Daniel Barcena retired all four batters that he faced, striking out the side in the bottom of the 8th inning. Brett Thomas worked a perfect frame in the 9th, picking up a strikeout in his Cutters debut.
The win gives the Cutters a one-game lead over the Scrappers atop the MLB Draft League standings.
