Rush WR/LB DeJuan Alfonzo named to AFL All-Ironman team
May 18, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release
Chicago Rush WR/LB DeJuan Alfonzo has been named to the Arena Football League's All-Ironman team, the AFL announced today.
"This truly is a well-deserved honor for Zo," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "He is one of the quality players in the AFL who has played in the shadows of some bigger names over his career. He always has been known as a great special teams player, but this year he was able to make an impact on other facets of the game. He has a fantastic attitude and passion for the game, and it is great to know that he finally is being recognized by those around the league."
Alfonzo is one of the team's best all-around players, making an impact on offense, defense and especially special teams. He finished the year with 20 receptions for 213 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games. On defense he added 50.0 tackles, a safety, two passes broken up and two fumble recoveries - including one that he returned for a team-record 46-yard touchdown. Alfonzo also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns, scored three two-point conversions and served as the team's main holder on extra points and field goals.
