Utah Blaze News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze announce the re-signing of wide receiver-linebacker TOM PACE (5-10, 199, Arizona State) and kicker STEVE VIDETICH (6-2, 200, N.C. State) to a two-year contract through 2008. As per team policy, terms were not disclosed.
"We continue to solidify the future of this franchise," said Blaze head coach/general manager DANNY WHITE. "Tom and Steve are the type of players that epitomize what our organization is about. Both players had outstanding years on the field and are outstanding citizens in the community. We look forward to having them with us for years to come."
Pace, who is in his fourth AFL season, hauled in 72 receptions for 781 yards and 17 touchdowns during the 2006 season. The former Sun Devil also added two rushing touchdowns and 1,416 all-purpose yards, while recording 27.0 total tackles and two interceptions on the defensive side of the ball. One of the highlights of Pace's season was catching the game-winning touchdown in the postseason-clinching victory over the Kansas City Brigade in Week 16.
Videtich, who is in his 11th AFL season, finished the season connecting on 9-of-22 (40.9%) of his field goals and 106-of-113 (93.8%) of his PATs. The former member of the Wolf Pack had 32 touchbacks, while the Blaze led the AFL with six onside-kick recoveries. Videtich became the all-time leader in kicking points with 1,381 career points, while setting two new expansion marks for PATs attempted and made.
The Utah Blaze led the AFL in attendance and qualified for the postseason in just their first season.
