Nashville Kats News Release

NASHVILLE (May 18, 2006) - Nashville Kats fullback/linebacker Frank Carter was named to the U.S. Army All-Ironman team, the Arena Football League announced Thursday. The award is given to players with the best two-way performance throughout the season.

Carter (6-2, 260) was honored for his efforts this year that saw him put up 66 yards on 34 carries with seven going for touchdowns. Defensively, he had 31.0 total tackles with 4.5 sacks and seven tackles-for-loss. He also had two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

His four sack performance in New York the first week of the season set the Kats record for sacks in a game and is tied for third all-time in the league.

The Wisconsin native was named All-Arena first-team in 2005 when he played for Las Vegas and had nine sacks and five rushing touchdowns that year.

Carter is joined by offensive/defensive lineman Joe Minucci in receiving a league award this year. Minucci was named to the All-Arena second-team earlier this week and leads the Kats with 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and 9.5 tackles-for-loss. The second-year player also led the Kats in sacks last season and earned AFL All-Rookie honors in 2005.

The awards for ADT Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and U.S. Army Ironman Player of the Year will be announced the week of May 29.
