Rapid City Rush News Release
RUSH STORYLINES & UPCOMING OPPONENTS:
* Schultz POW - On Monday, the CHL announced that Rush forward Jesse Schultz earned Oakley CHL Player of the Week for the term ending December 11th. The award marks the first league honor for the Rush this year and first for Schultz who joined the team in March of last season. For the week, Schultz paced the Rush with seven points on three goals and four assists and a plus-6 rating.
* Atop the League - Entering this week's games, forward Jesse Schultz leads the league with 32 points (11g, 21a), marking the first time (excluding October) that a Rush player stands atop the league in that category. His four point effort on Saturday tied a Rush season high for points in a single game.
* Record Setting Game - Saturday's 7-0 domination of the Arizona Sundogs tied a pair marks for the 4th-year Rush franchise. The seven-goal advantage tied the team record for largest margin of victory (9-2 W, 12/8/09 @ MIZ). The contest also served as the third time that the Rush have enjoyed 15 powerplay chances in a single tilt.
* Bats Shutting the Door... Again - The Rush collected seven goals in Saturday's meeting with the Sundogs, but needed only one due to the strong effort by 3rd-year netminder Danny Battochio. The goaltender turned aside all 33 shots faced for his second shutout of the season and seventh of his young career. On November 23rd against the Evansville IceMen, the Lively, Ontario native stopped 34 shots for his first shutout of the season. Battochio is now tied with Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher for the league lead in shutouts.
