Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - Friday night, the Rapid City Rush were tested against the top ranked Allen Americans at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The Rush were lead by standouts Winston Day Chief and Jared Brown who each found the back of the net, while Danny Battochio turned away 31 saves on the night as the Rush beat the Americans 3-1. Rapid City is now only four points away from securing a fourth-consecutive playoff berth. The Rush and Americans clash again tomorrow and tickets are available at gotmine.com or by calling the Rush office at 716-7825.

Winston Day Chief wasted no time bringing the Rush fans to their feet, notching his seventh goal of the season just 1:38 into the contest off a centering pass from Jared Brown.

The Americans wouldn't respond until 5:17 into the second frame with an unassisted goal by Anthony Maiani who rang a shot off the post and in from the right circle.

The Americans held a heavy advantage in shots during the third at 15-8, but the Rush were the lone team to find the net in the final stanza. Jared Brown's one-timer from the slot gave the Rush the go-ahead-goal at 13:41 into the third with a set up by Winston Day Chief and Jesse Schultz. Rusty Masters would slide a shot into the Americans empty net from center ice to solidify the 3-1 victory.
