Rush to Begin "Military Appreciation Night" Festivities
November 7, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Rapid City Rush News Release
RAPID CITY, SD- The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Arizona Coyotes, are thrilled to gear up for their annual "Military Appreciation Night" game that is to be played this Saturday, November 12th, against the Colorado Eagles at Premier Home Mortgage Ice in Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The team's festivities surrounding our "Military Appreciation Night" begin on Thursday, November 10th, with our painting of the ice.
Similar to last year's "Pink at the Rink" game, fans are invited to come to Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena and paint the names of military members close to their heart on the ice. These names of active, retired, or fallen members of our proud nation's armed forces will then be displayed for all to see that attend the game on Saturday night. The event will start at 5:30 p.m., and we encourage all members of Rush Nation to attend and participate.
"The Rush is excited about this event and looking forward to honoring our military members, both past and present. We had great feedback when we held our 'Pink at the Rink' painting of the ice with the names of people who had been affected by cancer; when we started to plan this year's Military Appreciation Night game it made sense to have our fans, who have military history, sign their names on Rush ice," said Rush Assistant GM Brandon Schumacher. "Personally, I am looking forward to this event because I have grandfathers who have served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Cuban Missile Crisis, and my father served during the Persian Gulf War. I am glad I can honor them in a unique manner by signing their names on Rush ice. It's a small way I can say that I am grateful for what they did for me and our country."
Throughout the week, there will be more information released about the events surrounding our annual "Military Appreciation Night" and salute to our troops. All military members and veterans can purchase tickets for $15 ANYWHERE in Premier Home Mortgage Ice in Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. For any questions surrounding our events, or for tickets to Saturday's game, call the Rush office at 716-PUCK.
