Nailers Receive Adam Krause from Wilkes-Barre Scranton
November 7, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have announced two transactions, both of which take effect immediately. Wheeling has received forward Adam Krause from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In a counter move, the Nailers have traded forward Kenton Miller to the Elmira Jackals for future considerations.
Krause, 25, is currently playing in his second full season of professional hockey, after splitting his rookie campaign between Wheeling and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Adam first broke into the pro game at the end of the 2014-15 season with the Nailers, after completing his senior year of college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. The Hermantown, Minnesota native has appeared in 43 regular season games in a Wheeling uniform, accumulating 17 goals, 11 assists, and 28 points. During that time, he had a pair of two-goal games, including one in which he scored the overtime winning goal at Brampton on February 20th. Krause has played in 16 games at the AHL level with the Penguins, adding one goal, three assists, and four points to his totals.
Miller, 25, was originally acquired in a trade with the Wichita Thunder during the 2016 offseason. Kenton has played in all eight games for Wheeling thus far this season, picking up one goal and one assist. Both of those points came in the team's 8-1 victory over Kalamazoo on October 29th, with the goal being scored shorthanded. The Redvers, Saskatchewan native is playing in his fifth professional season, and over the weekend, he appeared in his 250th career game. Elmira will be his fifth ECHL club, as he played for Fort Wayne and Utah, in addition to the Nailers and Thunder.
Adam Krause and the Nailers will hit the ice at WesBanco Arena on Friday night at 7:35, when they play host to the Reading Royals. That will be Veteran's Day, so the Nailers are hosting Military Appreciation Night, as the team will wear camouflage jerseys during the game. Additionally, that evening will feature a Flat Screen Friday presented by The Highlands, as well as a Frosty Friday. The next celebrity appearance will take place on December 3rd, when Clint Hurdle comes to Wheeling for Pittsburgh Pirates Night.
