WEEK IN REVIEW The Monarchs played three games against the Adirondack Thunder this past weekend and went 1-2-0-0 against the North Division Rivals.
Tuesday night, the Monarchs visited the Glens Falls Civic Center and came out with a 3-2 victory. The Monarchs scored the first three goals of the game, and hung on at the end to, at the time, take first place in the Eastern Conference. Alexx Privitera, Gasper Kopitar and Daniel Ciampini scored the goals for the Monarchs, while Sam Brittain won his third-consecutive game on the season.
The same two teams battled Saturday night, this time in Manchester. After an early goal by Ciampini, the Thunder scored three unanswered goals before Justin Gutierrez netted his 2nd goal of the year. Adirondack would go on to score twice more before Derek Arnold finished the scoring for the night.
Sunday afternoon, the Monarchs fell, 3-1, to cap the week-long series. The Thunder got on the board first and built a 2-0 lead before Joey Diamond scored the lone Monarchs goal. The Thunder went on to score in the third period to put the game away. Sam Brittain got the start in net and suffered his first loss in a Monarchs sweater.
WHERE WE STAND The Monarchs enter the week third in the North Division with eleven points, trailing division leading Adirondack (14 pts.) for tops in the division and the Reading Royals by two points.
LEADING THE WAY Matt Leitner (1g, 8a) currently leads the Monarchs in scoring with nine points. Leitner is followed by Justin Agosta (2g, 6a), David Kolomatis (1g, 7a), Daniel Ciampini (4g, 4a) and Justin Gutierrez (2g, 6a) who all have eight points.
NORFOLK, NO PROBLEM The Monarchs and Admirals will play the first of eight games in their season series Friday night in Norfolk. To this point, the Admirals are1-7-1-0, and post an 0-4-1-0 record at home. The Admirals are lead in scoring by Nick MacNeil (2g, 1a), Josh Brittain (1g, 2a) and Aaron Harstad (3a), and in goal by Connor Knapp who boasts a 2.39 GAA and a 0.929 save percentage. Last season, the Monarchs posted a 6-1-1-1 record in the season series.
BACK TO READING The Monarchs and Royals will travel to Reading for the second time this season, with the Monarchs taking the lone meeting between the two clubs, 5-1, Oct. 21 inside the Santander Arena. The Royals are led by Chris McCarthy (3g, 7a), Olivier Labelle (5g, 4a) and Steven Swavely (4g, 5a) on offense, and in the pipes by Martin Ouellette who holds a 3-1-0-0 record, a 2.53 GAA and a 0.907 save percentage.
TICKETS The Monarchs return to SNHU Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 6 (10 a.m.) when they battle the Reading Royals on Education Day.
Mullets in Movember is right around the corner, as the Monarchs and Royals bout again. Help the Monarchs raise funds and awareness for men's cancers, with proceeds from the game going to the American Cancer Society.
