Saskatchewan Rush News Release

The two-time defending NLL Champion Rush have positioned themselves well ahead of what has been touted as very deep talent pool that will be available in the '17 draft

The Saskatchewan Rush have acquired a second-round pick in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft from the Calgary Roughnecks in exchange for forward Riley Loewen in a trade that was announced today.

The two-time defending NLL Champions Rush have positioned themselves well ahead of what has been touted as a very deep talent pool that will be available in the '17 draft. Saskatchewan now has a trio of second-round picks with the one acquired in the Loewen trade, another in the trade that took place on Monday that brought Adam Jones to the Rush from the Colorado Mammoth, plus the Rush's own selection.

"The 2017 draft class is an excellent one," noted Rush GM/head coach Derek Keenan. "We always have to keep an eye on our future and especially in this case when we need to ensure that we are properly situated for a draft that is so well-stocked with young talent."

Loewen was a second-round pick of the Rush's in 2013. He played in 12 regular-season games for Saskatchewan in 2016, collecting three goals and 21 assists, but did not make an appearance in the Champion's Cup playoffs.
