
Rush Fend Off Sundogs for Thirteenth Straight Victory

(Rapid City, SD) - The Rapid City Rush kept on rolling on Saturday night, posting a 5-4 win over the Arizona Sundogs at the sold out Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The victory is the league-best thirteenth straight for the Rush who maintain a three-point lead in the Turner Conference. Konrad Reeder and Derek LeBlanc each posted multi-point efforts while Tim Boron turned away 27 shots, improving his record to 8-0-0.
Arizona found themselves in a hole early, stung by former Sundog Konrad Reeder just 14 seconds into the game. Defenseman Dave Grimson fired a low slapshot to the outside pad of goaltender Levente Szuper, yielding a rebound to Reeder who fired home his 12th of the season.
In the second, the Rush added to their lead, netting a pair of goals to make it 3-0. The first came on the powerplay at 3:59 when Scott Wray buried his 16th of the season, one-timing a shot from the slot area. Then at 13:05, Derek LeBlanc netted his 19th of the year, snapping a shot off the shoulder of Szuper that bounced over the keeper and just past the goal line. In the final three minutes, the Sundogs finally got on the board on a powerplay goal by Patrick Schafer, making it 3-1 after two periods.
The final period featured five combined goals, three of them coming in the final 3:02 of regulation. Scott Kalinchuk's 3rd goal of the year on a blast from the left point regained the three-goal lead for the Rush. Kyle Hood answered back at the 6:31 mark, making it a 4-2 game. With just over three minutes remaining, Jim Driscoll pulled the âDogs to within one on a goal assisted by Jason Visser and Morgan MacLean. With one minute left, Les Reaney potted his 21st of the season, taking advantage of a miscue by Szuper for the eventual game-winner. With just 25 seconds left, Cam Keith pulled the Sundogs to within one, but the Rush held on the for the 5-4 victory.
