Rusch's Wrath Earns Him Pitcher of the Month

WINNIPEG - The American Association announced today that Winnipeg Goldeyes pitcher Matt Rusch has been named the league's Rawlings Pitcher of the Month for June.

Rusch, 29, made six starts in June, going 4-1 with a tiny 1.90 ERA. The Goldeyes won the other game he didn't register a decision in. In 42.2 innings, he also racked up 39 strikeouts. He was the American Association's Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 10.

On the season, Rusch leads in the American Association with a 2.29 ERA and has a 5-1 record in nine starts. He also leads the league with 52 strikeouts. Winnipeg has an 8-1 record when he is the starting pitcher.

Winnipeg returns to Shaw Park tomorrow night to begin a 12-game homestand and four-game series against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
