Harrisburg Senators News Release
The patient Harrisburg Senators drew nine walks and added four hits on Sunday afternoon, but it was not enough to take down Akron in an 11-2 loss to the RubberDucks at Canal Park. The two teams split the four-game set, with the Senators taking the middle two games.
Seven of nine Senators starters drew at least one walk, with Caleb Ramsey and Matt Skole walking twice. Ramsey walked in the first and later scored on a Kevin Keyes RBI single to make it 1-0, Senators. The Senators picked up their second run in the seventh when Adrian Sanchez, Skole and Keyes all walked to load the bases. Drew Vettleson followed with a free pass of his own to cut the Akron lead to 3-2. However, the Senators stranded the bases loaded in that inning and left 10 on the basepaths for the game.
Brett Brach endured a rough first inning in which Akron scored three runs on four hits. Afterwards, Brach settled down and surrendered only four more hits in four scoreless innings. Scott McGregor took over and pitched a clean sixth, but Akron scored three off the right-hander in the bottom of the seventh to increase the RubberDucks' lead to 6-2. Akron added five more runs on four hits in the eighth against Harrisburg's Bryan Harper.
The Senators return home tomorrow to start a four-game set with the Richmond Flying Squirrels beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Senators will open the series with Brian Dupra on the mound against Richmond's Jack Snodgrass. The game can be heard beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. on 1460 AM or via senatorsbaseball.com, 1460theticket.com or the iHeart Radio app.
