Rubber Match Goes to Dash

Winston-Salem got clutch hitting early and widened its lead late as the Keys fell to the Dash 9-4 in the series finale in Winston-Salem Wednesday afternoon.

The Dash tied the game and took the lead with two-out basehits in the second and third innings and never looked back.

In the second inning DH Seth Loman's infield hit brought home Christian Marrero to tie the game at 1-1. In the following inning, RF Salvadore Sanchez delivered a two run single off the glove of lunging Keys 3B Brandon Waring putting Winston-Salem on top, 3-1.

Keys starter John Marrioti (1-1) allowed four runs in five innings. He walked three batters and they all came around to score.

The Dash widened the lead against the struggling Keys bullpen that allowed five runs in three innings. For the series the Frederick pen allowed 14 runs in just 8 and 1/3 innings.

Frederick (9-12) led early when LF Kraig Binick homered in the first inning. The drive was the fourth home run for Binick and the second in as many days.

The Keys have a day off before heading to Potomac where Brian Matusz will take the hill. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with The UPS Store Pre Game Show beginning at 6:45 p.m. on the Keys Baseball Network.

Frederick will head home for its longest homestand of the season starting Monday, May 4th at 7:00 p.m. against Winston-Salem. The 11-Game homestand kicks off with Kids Eat Free Monday.
