Royals Training Camp Kicks Off Friday, October 2

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the Royals' Pre-Season Training Camp will begin on-ice practice sessions on Friday, October 2, 2009, at 10:00 am at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. Royals' Pre-Season Training Camp will continue through Tuesday, October 13, and all on-ice practice sessions are open to the public.

With one exception, all Training Camp on-ice practice sessions will be held at the Sovereign Center. That one exception is on the second day of Training Camp-Saturday, October 3-when the team will head to the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex (3130 Paper Mill Road, Wyomissing 19610; 610-376-2100; www.bodyzonesports.com), for practice and a brand new event: Fans' Photo Day. That day, the Royals' on-ice practice session is scheduled from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Then, beginning at 1:30 pm and continuing until 3:00 pm, in a specially designated area within the Body Zone, all of the Royals' players will be available to meet, greet and have their photo taken with fans. Please note that fans should bring their own cameras to take photographs during the Fans' Photo Day event.

Training Camp on-ice practice sessions will then return to the Sovereign Center from Sunday, October 4, through Tuesday, October 13. For the most part, on-ice practice sessions are scheduled from 10:00 until 12:00 noon; however, there are several variations to the on-ice practice times. The current on-ice practice schedule is set out below. Please also note that the Royals' Pre-Season Training Camp on-ice practice schedule is subject to change, and it is recommended that fans attending on-ice sessions confirm practice times in advance.

The Royals will also play two pre-season games during Training Camp this season: (i) Saturday, October 10 @ Elmira Jackals (First Arena, Elmira, New York @ 7:35 pm); and (ii) Sunday, October 11 v Trenton Devils at the Sovereign Center. Please note that the game time for the pre-season match-up against the Devils at the Sovereign Center on Sunday, October 11 is 5:05 pm. All tickets for this pre-season game will be general admission and will go on sale on Tuesday, September 15. Costs for tickets to this pre-season game are $5.00 for Full Season Ticket Holders and $8.00 for everyone else. Full Season Ticket Holders must purchase their tickets through the Royals' office (610-898-7825, Monday through Friday, 9 am - 5 pm). All other tickets can be purchased at the Sovereign Center Box Office, the Royals' office, on-line through the Royals' website www.royalshockey.com, through Ticketmaster Charge by Phone (215-336-2000), on-line at www.ticketmaster.com, or any Ticketmaster outlet.

Immediately following the Royals' pre-season showdown against the Devils at the Sovereign Center on October 11, the Royals will host a "Post-Game Skate with the Players" presented by the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex. A limited number of skates will be available free of charge at the Sovereign Center so fans can participate in the post-game skate with the players that evening. There will also be several Royals' players available after the game in "The Corner" pub and restaurant in the north-east corner of the Sovereign Center for an autograph session.

The Royals open the 2009-10 ECHL season on Thursday, October 15, 2009 (7:05 pm) when the Kalamazoo Wings make their first visit ever to the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.
