Grizzlies Name Mike Xuereb Head Equipment Manager

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that Mike Xuereb has been named the team's Head Equipment Manager.

Xuereb joins the Grizzlies after working as the Assistant Equipment Manager for the New York Islanders rookie developmental camp in July. He spent the 2008-2009 season as the Head Equipment Manager for the Central Hockey League's New Mexico Scorpions and previously was the Head Equipment Manager at Utica College from 2004-2008. In addition, he served as an intern for the AHL's Toronto Marlies in 2008.

"Mike comes highly recommended by our parent club in New York," said Colley. "He has a lot of experience at a very young age and is very hungry to move up the ranks."

The 22-year-old Floral Park, New York native is a 2008 graduate of Utica College of Syracuse where he received his Bachelor's of Science in Human Resources Management.

The Grizzlies open the 2009-2010 season Friday, October 16 in Las Vegas with the home opening E-Center weekend being Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24 when they will host Idaho.

Utah enters their fifth year in the ECHL and their third-straight season as an affiliate of the New York Islanders. Head Coach Kevin Colley returns to the Utah bench this upcoming season after signing a multi-year contract extension on April 20, 2009. Colley, who at the age of 30 is the youngest coach in the ECHL, led the Grizzlies to the playoffs for the third time in four years during his rookie head coaching campaign.
