Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals earned a 2-1 shootout win versus the Prince George Cougars as Dino Kambeitz scored the game winner in the fifth round of the shootout on Friday night.

Starting Off Right: With the win, the Royals have now won five of their eight home openers.
Extra Time: Tonight's contest also marked the first time the club's opening game has been decided in either overtime or a shootout.
Debuting Royals: Forwards Phillip Schultz and Ty Yoder, along with defenceman Parker Malchuk made their WHL debuts in tonight's game. Additionally, forwards Logan Doust, Tanner Sidaway, Tyler Lees, Brandon Cutler and defenceman Jameson Murray skated in their first contest as a Royal.
Century Mark: In tonight's contest, Royals' forward D-Jay Jerome played in his 100th career regular season game in the WHL. The Lethbridge, AB native was acquired at last year's trade deadline from the Prince Albert Raiders. In 99 regular season games spilt with the Royals, Raiders and Red Deer Rebels, Jerome has recorded 17 point (8g-9a).
Away at Camp: Victoria scratched veteran defenceman Scott Walford who is currently attending the Montreal Canadiens Training Camp.
