Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - Reading Royals Director of Ticket Sales and Service John Senick has become a board member with the Special Olympics of Berks County, expanding his many local volunteering and charitable initiatives around the area. Senick assists the Special Olympics with fundraising. He is in his first season with the Royals front office.
"I have a special needs son, Ricky, who has competed in the Special Olympics," Senick explained. "Board member Mike Sheldon told me they needed help and I remembered his kindness to my son at a camp years ago." Sheldon is a second-year season ticket holder with the Royals.
The long-time Reading-area resident Senick has been the lead minister of hospitality at St. Catharine's Church for more than 20 years. He is also a cofounder, board member and lead volunteer with Joseph's People, a non-profit assisting unemployed and underemployed people. Since 1995, Joseph's People has helped more than 5,000 people recover from job loss.
"We are glad to see so many motivated Berks County residents making a difference," Senick said. "My family and I feel a special connection to this community."
The Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities.
"Any money coming in stays local. It's the best of both worlds," Senick said. The Special Olympics relies solely on donations and fundraisers.

Born in south Philadelphia, Senick has an extensive history of successful sales experience, principally in the automobile, software and banking service industries. He played youth hockey growing up in the southeastern Pennsylvania area and has also coached the sport at several local rinks.
Senick has also been active with Keystone Soldiers, a non-profit dedicated to making Christmas a bit more joyous for troops overseas.
The Royals drew 4,093 fans to its game Thursday and Reading defeated Worcester, 6-2. Senick hopes to see the tremendous support continue.
"It was heartwarming and great to see that many people experience the amazing atmosphere at Santander Arena. It juiced the team."
