Royals Radio Network Returns on Clear Channel Communications
September 8, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL today announced that the organization has renewed the team's radio network agreement with Clear Channel Communications. For the second consecutive season, the Royals' broadcast presentations will be heard live on True Oldies WRAW 1340 am in Reading and WLAN 1390 am âTimeless Classics' in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
As with last season, the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will include the Royals' game night broadcasts and the team's weekly one-hour coach's show. For Saturday night home games this year, the Royals will also continue the thirty-minute pre-game warm-up special feature-âRinkside with the Royals,' which will be broadcast live from the Sovereign Center on WRAW and WLAN. In a new feature added for this season, Royals' broadcasts will be streamed live on the internet through the web site of WRAW's sister station, WRFY Rock Hits Y102 in Reading, www.wrfy.com. Also, the Royals will continue the team's thirty-second feature every weekday morning on Rock Hits Y102, âRoyals Recap,' which updates results, developments, transactions, and upcoming events and promotions with the Royals on a daily basis.
As with seasons past, the Royals game night broadcasts will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show beginning thirty minutes before the opening face-off and conclude with a post-game wrap up show after the game action. The Royals Radio Network will also carry the team's weekly one-hour coach's show âRoyals Radio Recon,' which will once again air on Tuesday nights from 6 - 7 pm. Team broadcaster Mark Thompson will continue to handle the game action play-by-play, as well as serve as the host for Royals' Radio Recon.
âRinkside with the Royals' will air on the Royals Radio Network beginning at 6:00 pm prior to every Saturday night game at the Sovereign Center this season. The half-hour program, which will be co-hosted by game night presenter Chuck Corbin and Mark Thompson, will be broadcast live from âThe Corner,' the ice level pub in the northeast corner of the Sovereign Center. The show will feature a few new wrinkles this year and will include interaction with a widely varying cast of characters, including some of the Royals most ardent supporters-the team's fans. In this regard, be sure to listen every Thursday morning on Rock Hits Y102 when General Manager Gordon Kaye will be live on air with Jackie and Scott. At that time, one lucky fan will be chosen as âThe Voice of the Fan' presented by the Inn at Reading. That fan will win two tickets to the next Royals' Saturday home game, as well as the opportunity to be a guest on âRinkside with the Royals'. Everyone is encouraged to come down to The Corner and participate in what last season proved to be to be a fun and lively way to warm-up for Saturday night hockey in Reading.
The Royals open the 2009-10 ECHL season on Thursday, October 15, 2009 (7:05 pm) when the Kalamazoo Wings make their first visit ever to the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. Season tickets for the Royals' 2009-10 season are currently available. To become a part of Royals hockey, call 610-898-PUCK or log onto www.royalshockey.com.
