Condors to take part in United Way Day of Caring

This Week In Condorstown:

Thursday, Sept. 10:

Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond and Team President Matthew Riley will serve as the guest speakers at the Downtown Rotary Club at noon at the Bakersfield Art Museum on 1930 R Street. Raymond and Riley will be speaking on all things Condors both on and off the ice as well as insight for this upcoming season.

Saturday, Sept. 12:

Condors staff members will participate in the annual Day of Caring, hosted by the United Way of Kern County, by assisting the Special Olympics. The Day of Caring boasts over a thousand volunteers giving their time and energy to numerous different service projects throughout Bakersfield. To get involved with the "Day of Caring" event, contact United Way at 834-1382.

Saturday, Sept. 12:

Condors front office staff will have an information table at Village Fest (formerly Brews in the Village) from 6 to 10 p.m. Fans can stop by the Condors table for their chance to win Condors gear and get information about the upcoming season. Village Fest is an annual fundraiser for Children's Advocates Resource Endowment (CARE), a local non-profit organization that supports an Endowment Fund for the future of Kern County children and local children's charities. The Condors will be donating 500 game tickets to CARE for this event. Village Fest will be held at the Kern County Museum, located at 3801 Chester Ave. Note: you must be at least 21 years of age to attend this event.

Wednesday, Sept. 16:

The annual Condors Job Fair will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at Rabobank Arena, located at 1001 Truxtun Ave. The Condors are hiring game-night positions for Mascots, Program Sales, Promotions Team, Kids Zone, Chuck-A-Puck Sales, Merchandise and more. Those interested may fill out an application in the Condors front office (1001 Truxtun Ave.) prior to the Job Fair tosecure an early interview appointment.

Thursday, Sept. 17:

The Condors will be holding Anthem Tryouts to find vocal artists and other musicians to perform the Star Spangled Banner and occasionally the Canadian National Anthem at Condors games throughout the season. Hopeful singers should contact Brad Urbani at 324-PUCK (7825) to schedule a tryout time.

Also taking place at Rabobank Arena is the installation of the ice and logos to the arena floor. Fans attending the Select-A-Seat event from 3-7 p.m. are invited inside the arena to watch the meticulous process that marks the unofficial start of hockey season in Bakersfield. The Select-A-Seat event gives fans an opportunity to tour Rabobank Arena in search of the best location for 2009-10 ticket packages. Condors sales representatives will be in the arena for further assistance.

Promotional Schedule Announced:

The Condors recently announced the complete promotional schedule for the 2009-10 season. Spider-Man, SpongeBob SquarePants, the Oakland Raiderettes, NFL QB David Carr and the ZOOperstars highlight just a few of the special appearances this season. Plus, Field Trip/Businessperson Special Day, Teddy Bear Toss and the Hockey-Thon are among the more anticipated games on the schedule.
