Idaho Steelheads News Release

(Boise, ID) - Idaho Steelheads head coach Derek Laxdal announced the addition of a pair of players - each with previous ECHL experience - to his roster as the team continues to prepare for training camp.

Defenseman Riley Weselowski and forward Adam Huxley have each agreed to terms for the 2009-2010 season.

Weselowski made his professional debut with Idaho last season, appearing in 54 games. The 23-year-old Manitoba native totaled 13 points (2 goals, 11 assists) along with 58 penalty minutes in his first professional campaign.

"Riley was playing pretty well late last season before getting hurt," Laxdal said. "He knows he needs to come in and continue that improvement and be a locker-room presence. If he does, he can really help this team."

Penalty minutes are the numbers to watch with Huxley, as the 25-year-old has averaged well over 200 per season since his first full professional season in 2004-05. He has 23 goals and 1,120 PIMs in 282 ECHL games with Alaska, Las Vegas, Victoria, and Stockton. Last season, with the Thunder, he had eight goals and 224 penalty minutes in 61 games.

"Adam is a hard-worker who knows his job and isn't afraid to do it," Laxdal noted. "He brings a needed presence to our club and our fans are going to love him."

Huxley will attend training camp with Rockford of the American Hockey League before reporting to Idaho. The Steelheads open training camp on October 3 with the regular season starting on October 16.

NOTE: Laxdal also announced the organization has released defenseman Alan Tallarini. Due to family commitments, Tallarini will be staying in Switzerland.

Season-ticket packages for the 2009-2010 season are available now, starting as low as $450 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season ticket packages are available for as little as $150. New this season is the all-inclusive "Gold Membership." Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or visit www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
