Royals Crush Yankees 8-1 to Win Fourth Straight

Pulaski, Va. - The B-Royals took control early and added on throughout its meeting with the Yankees on Saturday night, coming away with an 8-1 win.

With two outs in the top of the second inning, Mikey Filia gave Burlington a 1-0 edge on a double that brought David Hollie home.

Later, in the top of the fourth, Logan Porter hit his seventh home run of the year, a solo shot to make it 2-0 Royals. Will Hancock hit and RBI double later in the frame to extend the lead to 3-0.

Porter was not done there, however. He plated Maikel Garcia on a double in the fifth to add another run to Burlington's lead.

Pulaski did get one run on the board in the bottom of the sixth, cutting its deficit to 4-1 on a solo blast from Antonio Cabello.

Then, in the top of the seventh inning, the Royals caught fire again. Porter added another RBI single to make it a 5-1 lead. In the top of the eighth, a Hollie solo homer was followed by RBI singles from Rafael Romero and Garcia to push the advantage to 8-1.

Angel Zerpa earned the win for Burlington after pitching five scoreless innings in which he allowed just three hits, didn't walk any batters and struck out four. Pulaski starter Yoendrys Gomez took the loss following 3.2 innings in which he was charged with three earned runs.

The Royals and Yankees meet up again on Sunday for game two of a three-game series. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
