Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals scored three goals in the third period to rally past the Spokane Chiefs 5-4 on Tuesday night at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Notes:

Penalty Free: In tonight's matchup against the Chiefs, the Royals did not record a single penalty minute. This was only the fourth time in franchise history when this has happened and third this season.

Hot Streak: Royals' forward Gary Haden has tallied 13 points (9g-4a) in his last nine games. This include four goals and two assists in three straight contests.

Top Prospects: Royals' goalie Brock Gould and Chiefs' centre Jack Finley were selected to participate in the 2020 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game that will be played on January 16, 2020 in Hamilton, ON.

Contract Extension: Prior to tonight's game, Royals' head coach Dan Price agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the club. Since taking over as the Royals head coach in 2017-18, Price has recorded a 90-67-8-4 regular season record.

First Goal: Spokane forward Leif Mattson recorded his first goal as a member of the Chiefs in tonight's game. Mattson was acquired from the Kelowna Rockets on December 5th.

2020 World Juniors: Chief's goalie Lukas Parik (Czech Republic) and defenceman Ty Smith (Canada) were invited to their country's selection camps for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championship. Smith has been named to Canada's National Junior Team, while the Cech Republic is yet to announce their final roster.

WHL Debut: Chiefs' forward Ben Thornton made his WHL debut against the Royals tonight. Thornton was selected 15th overall in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft out of Yale Hockey Academy.

Back-To-Back: The Royals will be facing Spokane once again tomorrow night to make it their final contest before their eight-day holiday Break.
