Kasper Puutio Added to Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game Roster

SWIFT CURRENT, SK - The Swift Current Broncos are excited to announce that Broncos import defenceman Kasper Puutio has been added to the roster for the Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game as an injury replacement. The game will take place Thursday, January 16 in Hamilton, Ontario.

Puutio, from Vaasa, Finland, was selected by the Broncos first overall in the 2019 CHL Import Draft. This season he's skated in in 29 of the Broncos 31 games, scoring once and adding nine assists.

Prior to joining the Broncos, Puutio won a Jr. A SM-liiga championship with the Kärpät U20 program last season.

He also represented Finland internationally at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, winning a silver medal, and at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

Puutio is the first Bronco to play in the game since Artyom Minulin in 2017. All told, Puutio becomes the 17th Broncos player to play in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game joining Minulin, Jake Debrusk and Glenn Gawdin (2015), Julius Honka and Brycen Martin (2014), Coda Gordon (2012), Reece Scarlett (2011), Cody Eakin (2009), Geordie Wudrick (2008), Eric Doyle (2007), David Schulz (2004), Todd Ford (2002), Duncan Milroy (2001) and Nathan Smith (2000), Jakub Cutta (2000) and Brett Allan (1998).

The 2020 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game is proudly supported by new title partner Kubota Canada, and CHL associate partners CIBC, Kia Canada, and Cooper Tires. The game will be broadcast live across Canada on Sportsnet and TVA Sports, and in the United States on NHL Network.
