Royals Avoid Sweep with 4-2 Win over Mets

Kingsport, Tenn. - The Royals closed out their series with the Mets on a high note, edging out a 4-2 victory at Hunter Wright Stadium.

In the top of the second, Maikel Garcia gave Burlington an early 1-0 lead following an RBI single.

Kingsport responded quickly in the bottom of the third with a two-run double from Andres Regnault to vault the Mets ahead 2-1.

The Royals, however, were up to the task in avoiding the sweep. Jake Means hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 2.

Then, in the top of the eighth, Garcia ripped a two-run single that gave Burlington a 4-2 edge.

Drew Parrish moved to 3-0 on the season in Sunday's win after he tossed three scoreless innings. Jonah Dipoto closed it out in the ninth to earn his first professional save. Mets reliever Ramon Guzman took the loss and now falls to 1-2 on the season.

The Royals hit the road again as they start a three-game series with the Johnson City Cardinals on Monday. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
