
Bumpass' Eighth Inning RBI-Double Helps Reds Take Opener

GREENEVILLE, TN - The Greeneville Reds (18-26) took down the Bluefield Blue Jays (22-23) 4-3 Monday night at Pioneer Park. The Reds clubbed a pair of home runs, and their pitching staff struck out a season-high 17 in the win.
RHP Graham Ashcraft walked Miguel Hiraldo to open the second inning. Hiraldo scored the games first run on Joseph Reyes' RBI-double. Garrett Wolforth's solo home run to left field off RHP Juan Acosta leading off the bottom of the third in- ning tied the game.
After striking out the first two in the eighth inning, Ryan Sloniger extended the inning with a double off Ashcraft. Reyes walked, then D.J. Daniels hit an RBI-double to give Bluefield a 2-1 lead.
Luke Berryhill's solo home run to left center field, his first as a professional, in the fifth off Acosta tied the game. Garrett Wolforth followed with a walk, and moved to second on Cristian Olivo's single. Peterson Plaz came up and hit a bunt down the third base line, Acosta threw wildly to third, allowing Wolforth to score the go-ahead run on the error.
Bluefield tied the game off Patrick Raby (W, 2-1) in the eighth. After striking out Davis Schneider, PK Morris singled off Raby. Morris scored the tying run on Hiraldo's RBI-double.
Ranser Amador led off the bottom half with a single off RHP Aldo Ovando (L, 1-4), and moved into scoring position after Danielito Remy's sacrifice bunt. A.J. Bumpass came up, and hit a go-ahead RBI-double to right field, scoring Amador.
Raby picked up the win in relief. He allowed one run on two hits and a walk in the eighth while striking out three. RHP An- thony Zimmerman (S, 1) worked around a one out hit by pitch for his first save.
Ashcraft struck out a career best eight over four innings. He also allowed three hits, walked three, and surrendered two runs. RHP Tanner Cooper struck out four and allowed two hits over three scoreless innings.
The Reds look to make it two straight Tuesday night at Pioneer Park. First pitch between RHP Tyler Garbee (2-1, 2.05) and LHP Naswell Paulino (1-0, 3.00) is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
Tuesday night at Pioneer Park is Taco Tuesday, where fans can enjoy $2 tacos and $2 16-ounce Coronas.
