Garcia (Burlington) and Munoz (Pulaski) Receive POTW Honors

CHAPEL HILL, NC- The Appalachian League announced today that Minor League Baseball selected Burlington Royals shortstop Maikel Garcia as Player of the Week and Pulaski Yankees right-handed pitcher Jhonatan Munoz as Pitcher of the Week. Both awards recognize these players' performances for games during the week of July 29-August 4.
Garcia, 19, earned Player of the Week honors after a dominant 5-game stretch last week. He batted .500, recording 11 total hits, 3 extra-base hits, and 6 RBI. Garcia was signed by the Kansas City Royals in 2017. He spent last season as a member of the Arizona League Royals and started this season with the Idaho Falls Chukars in the Pioneer League before joining the Burlington Royals.
Munoz, 19, earned Pitcher of the Week honors after a scoreless start on Wednesday. He went 6 innings, gave up zero runs, allowed just 1 hit, and struck out 9. He was signed by the New York Yankees in 2016 and is in his second season as a member of the Pulaski Yankees.
