
Rox Win Second Straight

WATERLOO-The St Cloud Rox defeated the Waterloo Bucks 7-6 Wednesday night in a back-and-forth game at Riverfront Stadium. The Rox win was their second straight and improves their record to 8-7 in the second half of the Northwoods League season.
Boo Vazquez (Pittsburgh) and Tony Skjefte (Minnesota) each had a pair of hits in the game for St. Cloud, while Nick Tanielu (Washington State) led the charge for the Rox with three hits. In fact, Rox 6-9 hitters Vazquez, Tanielu, Skjefte and Erik Kozel (Colorado Mesa) combined to go 8-14 with four runs scored and six RBI.
Tadd Johansen (Wayne State) kept the Rox in the game for six and two-thirds innings before yielding to the bullpen. Will Flor (Jacksonville) finished the seventh inning, Ty Jackson (Washington State) pitched a scoreless eighth inning to earn the victory, and Adam Maxon (Jacksonville) pitched a perfect ninth for his ninth save of the season.
The Bucks took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning off Johansen but saw the Rox quickly evened the score with three runs of their own in the top of the second. Waterloo again seized the lead in the bottom of the third with a pair of runs, but again St Cloud immediately answered back in the top of the fourth with two of their own to tie the game 5-5.
The Rox scored a single run in the top of the fifth inning to take a 6-5 lead that would hold until the bottom of the seventh, when the Bucks tied the game 6-6.

On Saturday July 21st the Rox will give away a limted number of scoops at the gate to give women a chance to dig on the field for a $2,000 diamond, presented by Riddle's Jewelry. On Sunday the Rox have a Youth Glove giveaway planned, presented by Central Minnesota Credit Union. The first 250 children 12/under will receive a glove and the opportunity to play catch on the field beginning at 11:30 am. Fans who wish to receive a glove are advised to get to Joe Faber Field early, as gates will open earlier than normal for the promotion. Tickets can be purchased at www.StCloudRox.com.
