St. Cloud Rox News Release

WATERLOO-The St Cloud Rox defeated the Waterloo Bucks 4-2 on Tuesday night at Riverfront Stadium. The Rox improve to 7-7 on the season and are just two games behind first place Duluth.

Zach Hirsch (Nebraska) was stellar on the mound as the Rox starting pitcher.

The lefty tossed eight innings of four hit ball with seven strikeouts and no walks.

It is the third straight start that Hirsch has lasted into the eighth inning, with each of the three starts resulting in a victory.

Boo Vazquez (Pittsburgh) was 3-4 with a run scored, while Chris Paul (California) went 2-4 with two RBI to raise his average on the season to .307.

The Rox scored a run in the top of the first thanks to the baserunning prowess of Phil Imholte (St Cloud State). Imholte reached first base via a walk, then stole second and third base. The outfielder scored on a Bucks throwing error to give the Rox an early one run lead.

St. Cloud added a second run in the top of the third when 2012 NWL all star Andy Henkemeyer (Minnesota) scored on a Chris Paul triple. A Henkemeyer walk and Paul single gave the Rox their final two runs in the top of the seventh.

Adam Maxon (Jacksonville) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his eighth save of the season.
