Brockton Rox News Release
Borckton, MA- The Rox dropped the series finale with the Quebec Capitales Wednesday night at Campanelli Stadium, 8-4.
The Caps got out to an early lead with a run in the first inning and built up their lead to 6-0 in the seventh inning before the Rox could get on the board.
The Rox came back with three runs in the seventh as Craig Lewis, Brian Jones, and Jake Daubert singled, with Lewis scoring on Daubert's hit. Chad Stewart then singled to load the bases for Mike Sandoval, whose single to left scored Jones and Daubert, cutting the Caps's lead in half, 6-3.
But the Caps came back with two more runs in the ninth, going up 8-3.
The Rox could manage only one run in the ninth. With one out, Daubert doubled to left and went to third as Stewart's grounder to short went for an error. Hector Henriquez, pinch hitting for Sandoval, grounded out to third, scoring Daubert, before the Caps shut down the Rox's come-back bid.
Lewis (2-for-4, one run scored), Daubert (2-for-4, two runs, one RBI), and Stewart (2-for-4) had multiple-hit games. Sandoval had two RBI.
Geronimo Mendoza took the loss for the Rox, going five-and-two-third innings, allowing five runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out two, dropping his record to 1-3 with the Rox.
