Lumberjacks Add to the 'bUHLpen'

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks have agreed to terms with RHP Jon Uhl on a contract the Northeast League club announced today. Uhl joins the team after the trade with the Cutters that sent RHP Laine McKeller to New Haven.

A Nashua, NH native, Uhl was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 19th round of the 2003 draft. In his first professional season, Jon was 3-4 with a 3.92 ERA. The Tampa, FL resident fanned 42 batters in 43.2 innings, starting 10 games for the Elizabethan Twins helping them win the 2003 Appalachian League Championship.

This season, while pitching for the Swing of the Quad Cities, Minnesota's Single-A affiliate, Uhl was 3-2 with a 5.52 ERA in 17 appearances from the bullpen. Uhl, 23, was drafted by the Twins out of South Florida University in 2003.

The Lumberjacks hit the road but will be back at the Wink on Monday, August 9 to begin a seven game home stand with the New Jersey Jackals and Aces. August 9 is Maine Forest Service's 60th birthday celebration for Smokey the Bear. The first few hundred fans through the gate will receive a free Lumberjack team photo and a free Smokey the Bear logo baseball. Smokey himself will also be on hand.
