New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, NJ- The game scheduled between the New Jersey Jackals and the Elmira Pioneers on Wednesday, August 4, 2004, was postponed due to rain, after the game had already started, and was in the bottom of the third inning. New Jersey held a 3-0 lead over Elmira, partially due to a two-run homerun by Jay LaFlair. Because of the rain, the Elmira grounds crew worked till after the schedule start time to get the field playable. The game did not get underway till after 9 p.m. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at 5.p.m, at Yogi Berra Stadium. Both games will be seven innings each.
On Tuesday, August 3, 2004, Jackals' starting pitcher Aaron Myers was named the Rawlings Northeast League Player of the Month. Myers went 4-1 in the month of July, with a 1.06 ERA. In 34 innings of work, Myers scattered 29 hits while striking out 38. Also during the month, Myers tossed a complete game, seven inning shutout of the Elmira Pioneers, in which he struck out eleven batters. At the time of the award, Myers was second in the Northeast League in strikeouts(75).
