BROCKTON, MA - (September 5, 2009) - In front of a sellout crowd of 4,958 at Campanelli Stadium the Brockton Rox won for the sixth straight game with a 6-1 victory over the Worcester Tornadoes on Saturday night. RF Keith Brachold homered for the fourth game in the last six, and RHP John Kelly won his second game of the season.

The Rox offense jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning on three straight RBI singles from 3B Phillip Cuadrado, CF Chris Valencia, and C Chris Grossman.

Worcester scored its only run of the game in the fourth inning on a two-out RBI single by C Yohanny Valera off of Kelly. Kelly had relieved RHP Wayne Lundgren who made his final tune-up appearance before his scheduled start in Game One of the 2009 Playoffs on Wednesday in Quebec. Lundgren dealt three scoreless innings and surrendered one hit with a walk and a strikeout.

Kelly earned the win with four innings out of the bullpen. He surrendered one run on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

Leading 3-1 to start the fifth inning, Brachold smashed a ball well beyond the Caritas Good Samaritan Picnic tent in right field to push the lead to 6-1. It was his 15th home run of the season, and his fourth in the last six games.

The Rox bullpen duo of RHP Adam Piechowski and RHP Matt Zachary recorded the last six outs of the game facing just six batters to secure the win.

The Rox finish the 2009 regular season with two games in Worcester beginning with a 3:05 Sunday start. LHP Craig Anderson (7-4, 3.67 ERA) will make his final regular season start against Worcester's RHP Jusef Frias (4-2, 4.61).

Brockton will meet the Quebec Capitales in the first round of the 2009 Playoffs beginning on Wednesday in Quebec City. Lundgren will face Quebec's RHP Eric Gagne in Game One. After Thursday night's Game Two, the Rox and Capitales will return to Campanelli Stadium on Friday for Game Three. Tickets for the Rox playoff series are available at www.brocktonrox.com.
