Rox Rally Falls Short 5-3

June 26, 2018 - Pioneer League (PL)
Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

The Grand Junction Rockies ninth inning rally fell short as they lost to the Ogden Raptors Monday night at Lindquist Field 5-3.

Down three with nobody on and two out Cristopher Navarro, Niko Decolati and Todd Czinege to make it a 2-run game, and after Grant Lavigne walked to load the bases, Raptors manager Jeremy Rodriguez replaced Evy Ruibal with Devin Hemmerich who struck out Daniel Montano to end the game, dropping the Rockies to 5-6 on the season.

The Rockies finished the game 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 12 on base. In the previous inning, they had the bases loaded with nobody, but could only manage one run, on a Montano sacrifice fly.

Montano scored the game's first run after he doubled in the second on Javier Guevara's RBI single, but Ogden scored an unearned run in their half of the inning, and Chris Rolling started a 4-run third with a 3-run homer off Alfredo Garcia, who allowed five runs, four earned over five innings. Trent Fennell allowed one hit in two scoreless innings, while Moises Ceja put up a zero in the eighth.

Decolati finished with four hits, while Czinege and Montano had two.
