Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

With the tying run at second base, Alexander Martinez struck out Offerman Collado to preserve the Grand Junction Rockies 4-2 win over the Idaho Falls Chukars Tuesday night at Melaleuca Field.

Martinez worked around a double and a walk to earn his third save of the season as the Rockies improve to 6-6 on the season, pulling within a game of the Chukars for first place in the South Division.

With the Rockies trailing 2-1, Reese Berberet snapped an 0-for-14 skid with his third home run of the season, but the Rockies weren't done in the inning. Zach Hall was hit by a pitch with one out and he scored when Coco Montes reached on a fielder's choice with the help of a Collado error. Montes ended the play at third base and scored on Cristopher Navarro's RBI single.

Montes brought home the Rockies first run of the night when he singled home Javier Guevara in the third, that tied the game at 1, but Nate Eaton's RBI ground out in the fourth put the Chukars back on top.

That was all they could muster off Eris Filpo who surrendered just those two runs over six innings. He earned his second win of the season. Aneudy Duarte faced the minimum in the seventh while Michael Agis tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning.

Montes finished with three hits, giving him an 8-game hitting streak which lifts his average up to .439.

Grant Lavigne added a pair of hits.
