St. Cloud Rox News Release
Rockford, Ill - The Rox concluded their 2016 first half schedule by marking history. St. Cloud pushed past the Rockford Rivets 10-4 on Tuesday night and earned it 24th victory of the first half. It is the most wins by the Rox in a first half in franchise history. The previous record was 19 wins, which happened in each of the past two seasons. St. Cloud waits for the ending of the La Crosse and Eau Claire matching happening this evening (7/5). The game is currently in a rain delay and tied 3-3. If the Express lose, then the Rox are first half North Division champions. However, if Eau Claire wins, then the Express are North Division first half champs. Finally, if the game ultimately gets postponed to a later date, then St. Cloud and La Crosse would be tied atop the division. Eau Claire would win the tiebreak because the Express beat the Rox 3 out of the 4 times during the first half.
The 3rd and 4th innings were kind to the Rox. St. Cloud scored a total of 7 runs in these frames. Drew Freedman and Luke RInghofer (South Dakota State) both had two-out RBI singles. St. Cloud took a 7-3 lead over Rockford after 4 innings. Webb Bobo (Southeastern Louisiana) clubbed a no-doubt home run over the right field wall to put the icing on the cake in the top of the 9th inning.
Collin Strall (LSU) was dominant again out of the bullpen. The righty earned his 5th save of the season as he threw 3 innings and only allowed one run.
RHP Austin Dubsky (Murray State) had to work hard to get through 6 full innings. The starter for the Rox gave up 7 hits, 3 runs (2 HR)-1 earned, had 5 walks, and 6 strikeouts. In his 6 starts, Dubsky still has managed to last at least 6 innings in every start.
St. Cloud returns to Joe Faber Field on Wednesday, July 6th with a matchup against the Eau Claire Express. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. CT and the Rox Solid Pregame Warmup starts at 6:35 p.m on 1390 AM The Fan. This is the first game of the second half of the season. Carlo Graffeo (Southeastern Louisiana) will start for St. Cloud on Wednesday night. It's Baseball Bingo night presented by Kwik Trip. Then, on Thursday, July 7th at the Rockpile, it is Augie Rodriguez Replica Jersey Giveaway presented by Coborn's, Times Media, and 104.7 KCLD. The first 400 kids 14 years & under will receive a jersey.
