Bucks and Honkers Suspended for Second Time

ROCHESTER, Minn. - For the second time this season, Waterloo and Rochester were suspended due to an excessive amount of lightning and rain. The game will resume on Wednesday, July 13th, with Waterloo trailing Rochester, 6-2, at the start of the fifth inning.

For the second straight night Rochester took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the first. Alex Fitchett drew a five-pitch walk before stealing second. Two batters later, Casey Worden delivered a two-out RBI double down into the left field corner, bringing in Fitchett to score from second.

Waterloo (22-13) quickly took their first lead of the evening with two runs in the second. Alex Boxwell singled to center before Zach Weatherford belted a two-run home run to left-center. The homer for Weatherford was also his second in the last three games.

Rochester (7-28) regained the lead with two runs in the third. Trevor Buis led off the inning with a single to left before Fitchell reached on a Waterloo fielding error. Ellis then laid down a sacrifice bunt, moving both Buis and Fitchett into scoring position Worden made it 3-2 with a two-run single to center, scoring both Buis and Fitchett.

Rochester extended its lead to 6-2 with three more runs in the fourth. Josh Davis led off the inning with a walk before Keaton Weisz moved him to second with a groundout to the left side. Buis was then intentionally walked, giving the Honkers runners on first and second. With two on and two out, Ellis increased the Honkers' lead to four with a three-run home run to left-center.

Patrick Boyle went three innings for the Bucks, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks while hitting one batter and striking out four.

The Bucks continue their five-game road trip tomorrow in the start of a two-game series against the Duluth Huskies. First pitch is the series opener is at 6:35 p.m. RHP Steven Baker (0-1, 1.59) starts for Waterloo while RHP Ryan Tapani (2-1, 2.10) counters for Rochester. ? Waterloo returns home to Riverfront Stadium on Sunday, July 10th, for the start of a two-game series vs. the Eau Claire Express. First pitch in the series opener on Sunday is at 3:35 p.m.

Sunday's game is another Kids Eat Free game and a Kids Candy Hunt. Kids 12 and under receive a hot dog, soda and popcorn for free. After the game, kids 12 and under are encouraged to stay for the Kids Candy Hunt. Candy will be spread throughout the infield grass for kids to pick up.
