Rox Pitching Earns League Honors For Second Straight Week

Richmond Hill, Ontario - On Monday, Brockton Rox LHP Mike Wlodarczyk was selected as the PointStreak Can-Am League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 14-20. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League.
The Medford, N.J., native put together two superb starts, starting with a six-inning Brockton Schools Day performance against Pittsfield on Tuesday morning. Wlodarczyk gave up one run on four hits, fanning five and walking just one as the Rox stomped the Colonials, 14-2.
He was equally as effective on Sunday afternoon, limiting Worcester to a run on six hits in seven innings of work, fanning nine, as Brockton won its sixth in a row, 2-1.
Wlodarczyk is currently 3-1 on the season with a 4.29 ERA, and leads the Can-Am League with 36 strikeouts, three ahead of teammate Mike Smith, in 32.2 innings of work. In that span, he has walked just seven batters. As a pitching staff, the Rox have walked just 51 hitters all season, 35 fewer than the second-place team in the category.
Smith won the league's Pitcher of the Week award for the previous week, June 7-13.
Currently in his first season in independent baseball, Wlodarczyk spent the last five years in the Tampa Bay Rays' minor-league system. He reached Triple-A Durham in 2009, but spent much of the season with Double-A Montgomery, where he went 1-4 in 47 games, mostly out of the bullpen. Wlodarczyk was originally a seventh-round draft pick by Tampa Bay in 2005 out of Boston College.
Pittsfield OF Angel Molina was selected as the league's Batter of the Week. In six games, Molina hit .417 with two home runs, four RBI and six runs scored, and is currently hitting .355 on the season.
Currently riding a seven-game winning streak, the Rox play the second of a three-game series at Pittsfield tonight, with *Wayne Lundgren*(2-1) on the mound for Brockton at 7:05 p.m.
