Colonials Suffer Soggy Loss to Brockton, 4-2

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials lost 4-2 in a rain-shortened game to the Brockton Rox at Wahconah Park on Tuesday night after eight full innings of play.

Colonials' starting pitcher Trevor Marcotte (0-1) suffered the loss going six innings giving-up three runs (two earned) on four hits, three walks, and two strike-outs. Pittsfield reliever Chros Rollins yielded one run in two innings of work.

Colonials' right fielder Dan Carte (3-for-4, R) extended his hitting streak to 14 consecutive games with three hit performance in the game. Left fielder Rafael Cabreja (1-for-2, 2B, 2 RBI) double and drove in a pair for the home side.

Brockton starter Wayne Lundgren (3-1) earned the win in seven innings of work allowing two runs on six hits, one walk, and two strike-outs. Reliever Brad Hertzler (1) finished the game with one scoreless inning of work to record his first save of the season.

The Rox offense was led by second baseman Scott Wearne (3-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) who was a perfect 3-for-3 in the game with and two RBIs and the eventual game winning hit in the sixth inning. Chris Valencia (0-for-4, RBI) and Chris Grossman (1-for-2, 2B, RBI) each added RBIs in a supporting role for Brockton.

The Colonials will play the final game of the series and home-stand on Wednesday versus Brockton at 7:05pm when lefty David Qualben (1-3) takes the mound against the Rox Mike Smith (3-1) at Wahconah Park.
