Sussex Skyhawks News Release

Tuesday night's game at CenturyLink Field at Skylands Park between the Sussex Skyhawks (10-11) and Les Capitales de Quebec (18-5) was suspended in the top of the seventh inning with no outs and a 2-2 count against Quebec C Patrick D'Aoust with Sussex RHP Matt Salvato on the mound and the Skyhawks leading 10-7. The game was delayed by a heavy fog just after 11:00 p.m. and was officially suspended a few minutes before midnight.

The game has been a strange one thus far. After a rain delay of almost an hour and a half, Quebec announced a starting pitching change, replacing RHP Daniel Rossignol with RHP Michel Simard. Sussex stuck with LHP Jeff Icenogle as its starter, and the southpaw proceeded to walk nine batters over the course of his two-plus-inning outing. In his abbreviated start, Icenogle allowed just one hit and recorded all six of his outs via strikeout but allowed seven earned runs and blew a 7-1 lead in the top of the third.

The suspended game will resume at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The third game of the series, set to begin at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, will start as scheduled after the conclusion of the suspended game.

The D&H Alternative Risk Solutions "Score an A" Program parade will take place between the conclusion of the suspended game and the start of the originally scheduled game.
