The St. Cloud Rox were swept by the Mankato MoonDogs in a three game series that concluded Saturday night with a 13-6 loss at Joe Faber Field. The Rox have now lost seven games in a row and stand at 5-12 on the season, while the MoonDogs improve to 13-5 with the win.
Mankato smacked four home runs total in the second and third innings, and led the game 8- 2 after three. Chris Munoz (OK City) smacked two of the four dingers for the Dogs, his first two round-trippers of the season. Chad Christensen (Nebraska) and Dan Sheppard (Iowa) had the other two longballs for Mankato.
The Rox got solid contributions at the plate from Boo Vazquez (Pittsburgh) and Erik Kozel (Colorado Mesa). Vazquez was 2-2 with a pair of singles and was hit by a pitch, while Kozel came off the bench to add a pair of doubles and a pair of RBI.
Rox catcher Adam Martin (Western Carolina) picked up a pair of RBI with a double late in the game. Keaton Siomin (California, see-EM-kin) took the loss for St. Cloud after pitching 2 innings while giving up eight runs (six earned) on six hits. Davis Henderson (Oklahoma City) got the win for the MoonDogs for his five inning, five hit two run performance.
The Rox are back at it on Sunday night at Willmar for their first game against the Stingers in 2012. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 at Bill Taunton Stadium.
