Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI - The Battle Creek Bombers came storming back from a 6-2 deficit to tie the game in the 8th inning, but could not finish the job, as they fell 7-6 to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in the series opener.
With the Bombers down 2-0 in the 5th, Colin Willis came up with a big two-run single to even the score. Wisconsin Rapids scored the next four runs, but Battle Creek put up a four spot in the 8th to tie it at six. Willis, Kyle Figgins, Tom Albert, and AJ Spanel each had two hits for the Bombers.
The game ended in unfortunate fashion for Battle Creek. With Daniel Rockett on first base representing the tying run with two outs in the ninth, he attempted to steal second. Kyle Figgins was called for batters interference on the play, and the game ended.
The series finale is on Sunday afternoon at Witter Field. First pitch is at 2:05 ET.
