Honkers Lose Fourth Straight Series
June 16, 2012 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Rochester Honkers News Release
(Rochester, MN) - The Honkers were in the game for the first six innings, but a grand slam in the top of the seventh off the bat of Duluth left fielder Luke Campbell (New Mexico) broke it wide open and the Honkers would eventually fall to the Huskies 11-1. The Honkers have now lost four straight series.
Rochester starter Elliot Engle (Doane) kept his team close allowing just two runs (one earned) over 5.0 innings of work. Despite his strong outing, Engle was handed the loss to fall to 1-3 on the season.
Duluth starting pitcher Joey Novak (Harvard) tossed 6.0 total innings of one-run baseball to move his record to 4-0 in 2012.
The Huskies collected twelve hits compared to just four for the Honkers.
Duluth's Campbell finished the game 2 for 5 with the grand slam and five total RBIs.
For Rochester, left fielder Justin Parr (Illinois) was 1 for 2, scoring the lone run of the game for the home team.
The Honkers (6-12) will be in Mankato tomorrow, June 17th, at 6:05 PM to begin a two-game series with the MoonDogs (13-5). Righty Carl O'Neal will start the ballgame for the Honkers. O'Neal is 0-0 with a 12.79 ERA in four appearances.
