Rox Get the Win over Willmar Monday, 8-7

Willmar, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox and the Willmar Stingers finished their four game series Monday night at Bill Taunton Stadium. The Rox pulled out a win against the Stingers on the road by a final score of 8-7.

The game was scoreless through three innings of play but the top of the fourth was where the Rox took a 2-0 lead over the Stingers. Willmar was able to bring the game within one for a 2-1 score off a single scoring a runner on third in the bottom of the fourth.

St. Cloud extended their lead 4-1 in the fifth inning and would continue to keep the bats going in the top of the sixth to take an 8-1 lead over the Willmar Stingers.

In the bottom of the sixth inning the Stingers would try to rally back earning four runs to make it 8-5 game.

The Stingers would bring the game within one scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning but the Rox shut them down to win by a final score of 8-7.

Starting on the mound for the Rox was Evan Wolf (R-Jr., UC Davis) earning the win pitching 5.1 innings. Jordan Talbot (Fr., University of California) pitched 2.0 innings relieving Wolf on the mound while Adam Maxon (Jr., Jacksonville University) came in for the Rox earning the save for 1.2 innings of work.

The St. Cloud Rox (9-11, 9-11 North) will be back in action on Tuesday and Wednesday as they host the Mankato MoonDogs for a two game series. Game times are slated for 7:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. respectively at Joe Faber Field.

On Tuesday at the park it is the 2nd Annual Bark in the Park Night presented by Granite City Pet Hospital and Surgical Center. Bring your dog to the ballpark to benefit the Tri-County Humane Society. It is also "Not Too Old Tuesdays" at the ballpark presented by The Legend's of Heritage Place. The first 75 fans, 60 years & older will receive a Rox seat cushion and Reserved tickets for fans 60 years and older are half off! (Available day of the game only and based on availability.)

Wednesday at the ballpark is Youth Day presented by the Boys and Girls Club of Central Minnesota. It is also "College ID Night!" presented by 104.7 KCLD and WILD Country 99. For the game, all fans that show their college ID will receive a Charter Sports Deck ticket for half price (Available day of the game only). One lucky fan will win a pair of WE FEST tickets at each game.
