Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release
The Border Cats lost their fourth straight game Sunday as they were beaten 9-6 by the Duluth Huskies at Wade Stadium. Duluth had a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 5th inning, but put the game away thanks to a two out three-run double off the bat of Alex Wojcieckowski. Jordan Church (Sam Houston State University) made his first start of the season for Thunder Bay and took the loss to fall to 0-1. The 6'7" righthander pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed eight hits and four runs.
Ty Stetson (Murray State University) led the Cats at the plate, going 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State University) also went 2-4 while Joey Hawkins (Missouri State University) had a triple, one run batted in and scored once. Brad Burcroff (Northeastern University) went 1-3 in his Cats debut with a double and a run scored. The Cats left 15 men on base as their record dropped to 7-12.
The Cats and Huskies conclude their two-game series tonight at 7:35pm ET. Caleb Smith (Rice University) is the scheduled starter for Thunder Bay. The righthander has appeared in three games and is 0-0 with a 2.87 ERA.
